Created during the pandemic, ‘Post Lockdown Geometry’ was a way to cope with what was happening in the world, as Ireland had one of the longest Covid-19 lockdowns in Europe, lasting until summer of 2021.
Therefore, with this series I felt I needed to break with the mundane, the usual, and venture out onto new artistic horizons. My practice normally flows from a more figurative foundation, but being stuck within my home I wanted to embark on a path of abstract exploration as a way to explore without leaving my door.
I became obsessed with the idea of working with “broken” and “uneven” shapes, so I created new paths, and geometries encapsulating the visual representation of the new dreams and avenues that spawned from the uncertainty of lockdown.
